What is TNR?

What is TNR?

  • TNR - Trap, Neuter, Return or Rehome.
  • After a client contacts us - we may go to their home to do an evaluation. We look to see how many cats there are, if they are sick, or if they are pregnant.
  • We put food in live traps to safely and humanely trap the cats.
  • After they are caught, we transport them to a Veterinarian.
  • We DO NOT do the surgery's ourselves. They are taken care of by a Veterinarian. They are also given vaccinations and treated for worms and fleas.
  • What is ear tipping?  The Vet will cut the very tip off of feral/ barn cats, or notched with a small "V". This lets everyone know that this cat has been cared for - therefore, no need to trap it again, or, if it wanders off  then people know it belongs to someone.
  • If the client is not able to - we will do after care for the cats. Recovery time for males is 1-3 days and females 2-4 days.
  • If the cats cannot return home - we will put them into foster care until a forever home can be found. Note: it is difficult to find placement for feral/stray/undersocialized cats. We may be able to offer spay/neuter but may not be able to assist in relocating or rehoming unsocialized or feral cats..

What is the fee?

We do not charge a set fee for this service, but a donation is greatly appreciated!
Keep in mind of these costs for our service:
  • Veterinary bills
  • Vaccinations, topical and oral treatments for parasites
  • Fuel used for evaluation, feeding, trapping and transporting
  • Cat food, litter, bedding and supplies
  • Note: due to the ever changing ability to get low cost spay neuter appointments and the drastic increase in vet prices, a fee may be charged for spay neutering community/farm/ other cats.
